Chiaroscuro

The mangrove is a changing landscape with the tidal cycle. Its soils, which are always wet and shifting. The sea that enters the mangrove is translated with fluid paint and colored inks in blue and earth tones that range from very dark to almost white and diffuse into the water. The water reflects intense flashes of light. The powerful light of the emirates contrasts with the shade under the mangroves. This creates a chiaroscuro landscape. The skies in my paintings are often white. White corresponds to this white and intense light specific to this region.
